NEED TO KNOW

MAY 27th: YOUTH GROUP 6-8pm
Hard to believe but our last regular youth group is coming up this      Sunday May 27th. Normal Time: 6-8pm Pastor Mike will be closing out the "Upside Down" series. But we're not quite done yet...

JUNE 3rd: ACT2 - SENIOR RECOGNITION NIGHT 6-8pm
Sunday June 3rd is our official last Sunday for Rise Senior High this school year. It is our senior recognition night and is a big deal! We hope everyone will be there!

JUNE 10th: REDUCING THE RISK CLASS
We encourage the senior high teens to volunteer during VBS week which is July 16-20th this year. It's a great way for our teens to serve that can make an eternal difference in the lives of the kids that come to VBS. In order to serve they need to take this "Reducing the Risk" class to be cleared to work with kids.

JULY 29-AUGUST 2nd: KINGDOM BOUND
There is still room if your teen is interested in going to Kingdom Bound this year. Kingdom Bound is a Christian festival at Darien Lake Theme park that is always a great event. Teens can go to Christian concerts, hear nationally recognized communicators, and of course enjoy the theme park. We camp together as a youth group and spend a great few days together. You can register on the "My Church App," by going to our website, or our Facebook page. So you got options!

LESSON
For our 2nd week of this "Upside Down" series, Dawn did an incredible job talking to us about enemies. Enemies? We might not always think about people with that label, but there are certainly people we can cross paths with that we do not like. Dawn helped us to think about how we interact with these kind of people by looking to the cross and some things Jesus said while being in a place where He could have been pretty unhappy with some folks.

"Father, forgive them.." We start by praying for our enemies which can be hard enough. "For they know not what they do." Jesus helped us to have eyes to see people differently than we naturally do... can we look at people compassionately and try to see things from a grace-filled point of view? It's natural to want to condemn injustice, to be angry about being mistreated, and Jesus had the right to feel those things. But He chose a more radical way. Maybe we can attempt the same?

I don't have any pics to share so here's one of my favorite Avery pics (my 3 yr old) for your viewing pleasure:

Thank you as always for sharing your teens with us!

Blessings in Christ,

Pastor Mike & your Rise Senior High Team
