8th Grade Preview Night!!! 

This past Sunday we had our first 8th grade preview night where all the 8th graders in our church were invited to come and see what the high school youth group nights were really like. It was tempting to do something really special to make a great impression, but we resisted and tried our best to give them a truly normal youth group night experience. I feel like we did that and we had such a good night. 

Cory and Gary led us in a game where it seems like the guys made it look really hard while the girls showed a lot of poise. Funny! 

We continued our series called "Close" and I had the privilege of sharing the lesson tonight. The main idea was that we face all kinds of situations where we're just not sure what to do, what to think, what to say... and instead of just stopping and asking God to point you in the right direction, which is great, take another step and ask God to go with you and be with you. We learned that Jesus wants to do that as we looked at John 10:1-5. A prayer I left them with for the week - "Will you go with me Jesus?" 

We had 29 teens with us this past Sunday. There was a lot of energy, the teens were amazing, and I was pretty proud of our youth ministry. It was awesome to have Kathy Saile join us for the evening. Kathy is our Sunday morning Jr. High Rise leader and she's been doing an amazing job building relationships with our Junior Highers. But in the end, getting to see God working and seemingly up to something is humbling, exciting, energizing, and requires a lot of prayer. So we invite you to join us in praying for these young people and for the ministry.
